Awareness on Road Safety Rules and Safe School Vehicle Policy by Traffic Wing of Commissionerate Police Amritsar

 The Traffic Wing of Commissionerate of Police Amritsar conducted a seminar with the school van drivers in the hall of Sri Guru Harkrishan  Public School, Chief Khalsa Diwan, GT Road, here today to create awareness about road safety rules and safe school vehicle policy.


The seminar was attended by Inspector Anoop Kumar, Traffic Incharge and his team members ASI Arvinderpal Singh and Chief Constable Sulwant Singh from Traffic Education Cell ASI Kuldeep Singh, Constable Arsdeep Singh, Ph.D. Jaswant Singh attended.

Addressing the school drivers, Inspector Anoop Kumar said that school children should not be parked on the side of the road due to pick and drop of school children and urged them to abide by all the conditions of Safe School Vehicle Policy, such as driver proper uniform. Must have plate, driver must have 05 years driving experience, was in school bus. CCTV and GPRS system should be installed, vehicle should have fire extinguisher, school vehicle windows but should be closed, vehicle should have driver, conductor and female student. In case there is a female attendant.

Apart from this Mr. Surinderpal Singh, Traffic Marshal also shared his views and shared safety tips for better driving and encouraged the driver to drive in the lane. 

On this occasion ASI Arvinderpal Singh in charge Traffic Education Cell asked the audience to keep all the required documents of their vehicle like RC, Pollution Certificate, Insurance Certificate and their driving license always updated and explained that Never use a mobile phone while driving as doing so distracts from traffic and increases the risk of an accident.

He also encouraged the school van drivers to lead a disciplined life. 

At the conclusion of the seminar, the Principal of the College Mr. Dharam Singh Ji thanked the participants. Meanwhile, about 40 school bus drivers attended the seminar and pledged to abide by the traffic rules and fulfill their duty of being a responsible citizen.
